A reoccurring interest which Hannah addresses through her artistic practice of performance, installations and self portraits, is the objectification of women. She often uses her own body as a site of making through the representation of female characters that yield a reflection on society and the norms she experiences as a woman. She likes to explore different identities and turning herself into different characters. It is an interesting way for her to view and criticize the role of a woman in this world, which is something that comes back in a lot of her work. With these works she is exploring femininity as seen through the eye of the beholder. She’s inviting the viewer in with a “shiny object" and sends them off with new questions to ask themselves. By turning herself into these different characters and different versions of herself, she explores different layers of her own identity in a playful way, while at the same time she’s pushing the boundaries of society’s view on women.

VOYEURS

The "peep show" works as a translation of the objectification of women and a space to interrogate the male gaze. My project and the grounding research show that comparisons can easily be drawn between the voyeuristic behavior and environments of peep shows and our current use of social media, both heavily relying on the perpetuation of the relationship between the objectification of women and the male gaze.this project was done in collaboration with

In the realm of social media, the idyllic image of the suburban picket fence has taken on a new dimension - one that extends beyond the physical confines of a neighborhood. In this installation everything is fake. A fake lawn, fake flowers, and fake faces.
By showing all her selfies, Hannah let’s the audience peek through the window of the house while they are standing in the perfect garden.

GYNOIDS

For this project I made posters to challenge and satirize the commercialization and objectification of female bodies. By envisioning a world solely inhabited by men and gynoids, I wanted to highlight and ridicule the reduction of women to mere objects, thinking about how that perspective affects society.

CLICKBAIT

a reappropriating of clickbait, satirizing the way misinformation is spread on social media
